Canadian Citizenship
Becoming a citizen of the best country in the world to live in can be the best choice you will ever make in your lifetime. Canadian citizens enjoy many benefits at home and abroad. When you are a citizen, you can travel with a Canadian passport, vote in Canadian elections, and can stay abroad without worrying about meeting the Canadian residency requirements (2 years out of 5).
The main requirement to apply for Canadian citizenship is having 3 years of Canadian residency within 4 years of applying.
Canadian Citizenship applications used to be a very simply process. An application was submitted by the applicant, the forms would be reviewed by a Canadian immigration officer, a Citizenship test/interview would be conducted, if the applicant passed the test, the last step would a citizenship ceremony.
Many citizenship applications are now being scrutinized more closely to see if the applicant does indeed meet the 3 year residency requirement. The current application does not show how someone can prove their residency. Citizenship and Immigration Canada also does not fully mention the many exceptions to the residency requirement.
There are certain documents that should be included with a Canadian Citizenship application even though Immigration Canada does not specify what those documents are.
